Convoy of Hope
7200 W. Carnahan St.
Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective is the project architect and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer of the international nonprofit’s 250,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution center. Convoy of Hope officials say the proximity to Interstate 44 is optimal for its disaster response efforts. Phase I allows for storage and distribution of more relief supplies within a smaller, more efficient building. Design officials say the building includes 186,000-square-feet of warehouse/distribution space with 20 shipping and receiving docks and two additional docks for the disaster services center. It also includes 38,000 square feet of equipment storage and 13,000 square feet each of volunteer spaces and office space. The building is constructed using a preengineered metal with precast concrete wall panels, exterior metal wall panels, stone veneer and glass. Q & Co. LLC is the general contractor, with additional engineering work done by Lee Engineering and Associates LLC, civil; Miller Engineering PC, structural; and Alaback Design (Tulsa, Oklahoma), landscape. The project is slated to wrap in July.
