Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and Helix Architecture & Design Inc. (Kansas City) are project architects for the $10.8 million library to replace a branch officials say is undersized and outdated. The library design includes a culinary literacy center to teach basic cooking skills and healthy eating, as well as three full-service commercial incubator kitchens. The kitchens will be available to aspiring entrepreneurs with business planning support by the library’s Square One small business services, according to Sapp Design officials. This project is part of the library system’s Capital Improvement Plan funded by Proposition L. JE Dunn Construction Group Inc. is the general contractor, with engineering work by Olsson Inc., civil and structural; Ochsner Hare and Hare, the Olsson Studio, landscape; and True Engineering Group LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project will wrap in early 2022.
