Then: Senior adviser, Sperry Van Ness/Rankin Co. LLC
Now: Partner/director of student housing, The Vecino Group LLC
The move to co-owning a development company seems natural to Tim Roth.
He spent 23 years in commercial real estate brokerage and property management at Sperry Van Ness/Rankin Co., with a focus during the last eight years on multifamily properties. In 2010, he began developing his own student-housing properties, under the Beacon brand. In 2012, when he decided to renovate the Woodruff and McDaniel buildings downtown, Roth says he set out to partner with The Vecino Group LLC CEO Matthew Miller to leverage Miller’s tax credit knowledge. Miller offered Roth the position of partner and director of student housing at Vecino Group in 2015. The team now has several out-of-state projects in process.
