Now: General and colorectal surgeon, CoxHealth Ferrell-Duncan Clinic

Dr. Jose Dominguez continues to serve southwest Missouri patients as a surgeon at CoxHealth’s Ferrell-Duncan Clinic, having retired as lieutenant colonel of the Missouri National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves.

For his military service, he received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal and the Combat Medic Badge.

“I’ve gone from reserve soldier to veteran continuing to provide care,” Dominguez says, noting he also provides surgical care to inmates at the Greene County Jail, in addition to trauma care at CoxHealth during its development into a Level 1 trauma center.

He’s also been deputized by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, serves as a commissioner for the Missouri Veterans Commission and became a grandpa of a now 1-year-old.
