With a moral compass pointed toward the public at large, Jill Finney is no stranger to volunteerism and community betterment. She started her communications career as an associate editor at Springfield Magazine, before moving into the nonprofit and government sectors and ultimately jumping in to help lead public relations for United Way of the Ozarks. Finney in 2016 founded Media Mogul LLC, a social media and marketing consulting firm. In her free time, she’s served as steering team chairwoman of Leadercast, board member of the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce and electee of the Battlefield Board of Aldermen. Finney also has been tapped as president of the southwest Missouri chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
What is your theme song? “Eye of the Tiger” – it comes from being a Mizzou alumnus.
What are you doing to make the Ozarks better? I’m lucky enough to be paid to help make our community better. Working at the United Way, I see how poverty affects so much more than the person and family in poverty.
What’s your most treasured possession? Books; I love to read. Now, it would be my Kindle.
What about your job would shock people? My deadlines. They overlap, and overlap, and overlap.
What is your best productivity hack? The Pomodoro Technique to keep from multitasking.
