Project description: A multipurpose precast concrete storm shelter that meets Federal Emergency Management Agency standards is being erected on the site of Willard South Elementary. The structure will include a wooden gym floor and an elevated stage and music area. Officials say a kitchen with new equipment, including a freezer and cooking appliances, was completed in 90 days over the summer, and the project also includes a front office area with classrooms, restrooms, secure areas and offices. Architect is Paragon Architecture LLC, and engineers are Olsson Inc., civil; Toth and Associates Inc., structural; and RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
