Modernizing Property Management

Posted online

Hunter Property Management, a long-standing company based in Springfield, has undergone significant transformation in recent years, propelled by a vision to modernize and enhance its services. Founded several decades ago, the company operated quietly until Chris and Stacy Vincent took the reins in 2019, sparking a flurry of changes aimed at revitalizing its presence in the market.

“When we purchased it, there were around 320 units. It was a good company, but it hadn’t really gotten its name out there,” recalled Chris Vincent. With a background in real estate and a keen eye for untapped potential, the Vincents set out to revamp Hunter’s operations, implementing automation, and leveraging digital platforms to expand its reach.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic presented both challenges and opportunities for Hunter Property Management. “Less than a year after we bought it, COVID hit, which forced us to look at where we were at in comparison to where we wanted to be and we used that opportunity to begin making changes,” reflected Chris Vincent. Despite the uncertain times, the company has experienced remarkable growth, more than doubling its unit count to 740.

Hunter’s approach stands out in the competitive property management landscape, particularly due to its focus on single-family homes. “80% of what we focus on is single-family houses,” explained Chris Vincent. This specialization has proven advantageous, especially with the rise of accidental landlords seeking assistance in renting out their properties amid shifting market dynamics.

Yet, Hunter’s commitment extends beyond mere transactions; it’s deeply rooted in fostering a culture of care and innovation. “We really focus on culture and our people,” Chris Vincent. By offering corporate-level benefits, prioritizing work-life balance, and investing in employee well-being, the company aims to attract top talent and deliver exceptional service to their property owners and tenants and their own employees.

Hunter Property Management is at the forefront of industry innovation, pioneering initiatives such as self-showing technology for rental properties and pet screenings with FIDO scores. By embracing change and challenging conventional practices, the company seeks to set new standards and improve the overall experience for all stakeholders.

“We want everybody to win,” affirmed Stacy Vincent. This ethos underpins Hunter’s collaborative approach, which extends to fostering partnerships with local businesses and promoting a sense of community within the property management sector. By advocating for fairness, transparency and mutual respect, the company aims to elevate the industry, benefiting landlords, tenants, vendors and competitors alike.

“Tenants bounce around, so they end up being with several different property management companies,” explained Stacy Vincent. “Wouldn’t it be great for them to have a pleasant experience throughout their renting journey. We’ve met and worked with a lot of great companies and have amicable relationships. I think that’s something to realize is that

together we can make a bigger impact than just one or two of us.”

As it continues to evolve and adapt, Hunter Property Management remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, paving the way for a brighter future in property management.
