Springfield, MO
Then: Associate Publisher, GO Magazine
Now: Publisher and Owner, Whitaker Publishing LLC
Back in 2008, Logan Aguirre was leading Whitaker Publishing’s GO Magazine and helping launch the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s The Network for young professionals. Her leadership roles today serve the same organizations, but she’s taken quite a few steps up the ladder.
In September 2020, Aguirre, 41, purchased Whitaker Publishing from her parents, founders Gary and Joan Whitaker. In the deal, she also became publisher of the suite of publications employing 24. And this year, she was elected chairperson of the chamber board. She says the roles align with her passion: celebrating the Ozarks as a great place to live, work and play.
She’s also taking the chamber role at a pivotal time as the community begins to reopen after a year of change due to the pandemic.
“Being the chair this year really aligns because I’m really focused on what’s next … especially from a small-business standpoint,” she says.
Best advice to young professionals? Don’t be afraid to ask someone you look up to professionally to meet for lunch or coffee to pick their brain. I’ve found, in this town, people are so willing to open up and share. Just ask!
