Whataburger
Less than a month after San Antonio, Texas-based Whataburger debuted in southwest Missouri, the fast-food restaurant chain launched its second local store on Jan. 3 at 1851 W. Marler Lane in Ozark. Operating Partner Kaden Jones leads a staff of 100 at the shop, said Whataburger spokesperson Ana Flores. She said the eatery, which is open 24/7, currently only offers drive-thru service. Dine-in, curbside and delivery services will be available in the coming weeks, she said. Three Springfield Whataburger restaurants also are on tap this year, according to company officials. The locations are 401 N. Eastgate Ave., 2355 N. Glenstone Ave. and 3880 W. Sunshine St., which will add to the company’s footprint of more than 900 restaurants in 14 states, according to its website. Its menu includes hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and breakfast items.

Revive Juice and Coffee Bar
Branson shop Revive Juice and Coffee Bar LLC moved Dec. 1 to 121 W. Pacific St. from 204 N. Commercial St., Ste. 200. Shelby Winzenried, who co-owns the business with her mother, Jennifer Hutton, said relocation and renovation costs were $10,000, declining to disclose lease terms. Winzenried said the downtown shop across from Liberty Plaza fills 900 square feet in space formerly occupied by The Ground Up Coffee House & Dessert, which shuttered. It has indoor seating for 16 and a table outside, she said, adding the shop’s new location has better foot traffic and visibility than its former Commercial Street space. The 10-employee venture’s menu includes coffee, tea, smoothies, cold-pressed juice, salads, soups and breakfast options, such as parfait and oatmeal. Prices range $3-$12.50. Coffee is roasted by Hollister-based Vintage Paris LLC, according to the company’s website.

Barry-Lawrence Regional Library District
A new Monett branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library District opened Nov. 14 at 2200 Park St. Project officials say the library was planned for two decades, but work began after voters approved a 7-cent property tax levy to fund its operations in June 2020. Joplin-based R.E. Smith Construction Co. was general contractor for the $5.4 million project designed by Paragon Architecture LLC. At 20,000 square feet, the new branch triples the footprint of the former at 213 Sixth St., according to library officials. Greg Brown, the library district’s marketing director, said the building has dedicated areas for teens and children – including a hollowed-out tree as a reading space – along with a community kitchen, drive-thru service, reservable private study areas and a coffee bar. Cindy Frazier is supervisor of the nine-employee branch, he said, noting the staff size nearly doubled with the facility’s opening.
