Missouri Mike’s BBQ & More is closing.
The restaurant, at 2833 W. Chestnut Expressway, announced on Facebook this morning that April 27 would be its last day in business. The restaurant from owner Mike Hickman debuted in 2020, according to past reporting.
"I have put in insane hours, poured my heart and soul into food and gained a lifetime of debt thinking it'll be alright," the Facebook post reads. “Wrong, it's not alright. We have to stop this madness, so we are abruptly closing and it's not by choice really."
Missouri Mike’s BBQ & More's website lists a menu that includes smoked meats, smash burgers and wings.
Hickman's Missouri Mike’s restaurant at 1724 E. Battlefield Road, which launched in 2021, closed last year, according to past reporting. Deli Mike’s, a sandwich shop he consulted for, also shuttered last year after debuting in June.
Hickman started Missouri Mike’s BBQ & More out of his mechanic shop, M.D. Hickman Auto & Tire, before expanding to a food truck and brick-and-mortar restaurant, Springfield Business Journal previously reported. M.D. Hickman Auto & Tire operates at 706 S. Scenic Ave. and 3247 W. Chestnut Expressway.
