Then: Managing member, Lowther Johnson Attorneys at Law LLC
Now: Chief operating officer and general counsel, Mid-Missouri Bank
A 15-year career at Lowther Johnson Attorneys at Law LLC ended in 2019 after Michael Miller made a transition to the banking industry.
Miller, 43, serves as Mid-Missouri Bank’s chief operating officer and general counsel. He also is president of Mid-Missouri Insurance Agency.
“I switched industries, which took some time to get my feet on the ground,” he says. “I feel like my knowledge of the financial industry has grown leaps and bounds over the last three years.”
Miller says part of that growth came as he helped the bank navigate myriad challenges amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Outside the bank, Miller remains civically engaged, serving as past president for Springfield Ballet Inc. and on the campaign committee for Children’s Miracle Network.
Best advice to young professionals? Don’t be afraid to take risks and put yourself out there professionally and personally, because the rewards you can get from it – even if they don’t turn out to be successful – you learn from them and can use those next time.
