General contractor Wehr Construction LLC continues work on the gymnasium and classroom addition at Reeds Spring High School. Matt Thornton, project designer at Dake Wells Architecture Inc. said plans are for the addition to be ready for the 2010–11 school year. Engineers for the 17,800-square-foot project are Gray & Associates LLC, civil; Meridian Structural Works, Inc., structural; and Malicoat-Winslow Engineers PC (Columbia), mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
The $2.8 million expansion is funded by a bond issue that was approved by voters in April 2009, according to previous Springfield Business Journal coverage. The masonry shell of the gymnasium is designed to let in natural light via a continual horizontal slot window of frosted glass, and the project also includes a multipurpose area and weight room on a mezzanine level.
