Water, air purification company building new Springfield operations center

Posted online

A water and air purification company that entered the Springfield market around three years ago is expanding with a new operations center.

Justin Tims, store manager for Moore Water & Air, said construction is underway on a 13,000-square-foot building in south Springfield that would double as the company's local hub and house a telemarketing department with 25 to 30 employees.

Moore Water & Air is an EcoWater water filtration dealer, serving area Lowe's and Costco stores, and its services include air purification, drinking water systems, home filtration, water softening and well water treatment.

"There's really not anybody here that does it like we do," said Tims. "It's really kind of an untapped market for us."

The new operations center is being built on land Moore Water & Air purchased at 5721 S. Robberson Ave., near the Sonic Drive-In on South Campbell Avenue. Butler Construction Management LLC is the general contractor for the project designed by Geoffrey Butler, he added.

A December completion date is targeted, Tims said, declining to estimate the project cost.

"It's the first building that we've ever built outright," he said. "We've always found buildings that were preexisting."

Moore Water & Air's Springfield operation currently works out of leased space at 3107 E. Chestnut Expressway, Ste. G. The Wichita, Kansas-based company, owned and founded by Ralph and Roni Moore in 1981, additionally has offices in cities such as Joplin, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Hays and Manhattan, Kansas, said Tims.

"We've been the No. 1 dealership under the Moore umbrella since we opened," Tims said of the Springfield operation.
