The United Nations is in danger of running out of money by the end of October, Secretary General Antonio Guterres said.
In a letter to employees obtained by AFP, Guterres said unspecified "additional stop-gap measures" would need to be implemented to make sure salaries and entitlements are paid.
At the end of September, the UN had a deficit of $230 million, Guterres said in the letter, noting member states had paid 70% of the total amount needed for 2019 budget operations.
