Trump claims it's his call on when to reopen the country

President Donald Trump insisted Monday it's his call on when to reopen the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I'm going to put it very simply: The president of the United States has the authority to do what the president has the authority to do, which is very powerful. The president of the United States calls the shots," Trump said yesterday.

However, NBC News reports the Constitution gives states authority over "police power," in which businesses are required to close due to a public health crisis.

Meanwhile, states in the East and West coasts are forming pacts to determine when to lift coronavirus restrictions.
