Located on 40 acres in Ozark, visible from Highway 65, The Baptist Home is a 43,000-square-foot, single-story intermediate/residential care facility. Extensive vaulting can be seen in the dining room, administrative lobby, residential care lobby and intermediate care lobby. Other spaces include a chapel, activities room, parlors, gathering spaces and an interior courtyard.
Challenges of the project included blending the facility, located on an open 40 acres, with its surroundings while keeping in mind a master plan for a future 60-bed addition and future independent living units. The goal was to design an open, bright and naturally lit interior without direct sunlight and glare. Deep-set vaulted clerestory windows combined with large stepping overhangs provide the solution. The facility's ground-source heat pump system, kitchen and mechanical room have been designed to accommodate future additions.[[In-content Ad]]
