SRC Holdings Corp. moving headquarters

Posted online
On Dec. 2, SRC Holdings Corp. plans to begin moving into new headquarters at the corner of East Cherry Street and South Union Avenue.

Renovations of 12,000 square feet at 531 S. Union Ave. in the Cherry Street Industrial Park are wrapping up, said project manager David Ross of Morelock-Ross Builders, and construction of a 5,000-square-foot conference center will continue into the spring.

SRC CEO Jack Stack likens the project to the work among many of the holding company’s businesses.

“It was an older building that was pretty worn out, and we’ve kind of returned it to a like-new condition – just like we do with our remanufactured products,” Stack said, adding that the facility would be used for corporate offices as well as a conference/community center.

Ross said roughly 35 offices would be ready in early December, before Morelock-Ross begins the second phase of construction. He said remodeling started in June.

“We completely gutted the interior, resized all the offices and basically took it down to the exterior walls – then started over from there,” Ross said.

The $1.25 million renovation and expansion is part of SRC’s 10-year plan to invest $40 million into its operations.

“We’ve got a 10-year plan, and we are investing heavily now in our people, our buildings and our businesses. We’ve been blessed with great growth and this gives us an opportunity to consolidate our executive staff, which we’ve never been able to do,” Stack said. “More importantly, this is part of the overall strategy to continue the growth track that we’ve been on.”

He said SRC recently moved a division into the former McQueary Brothers Drug building in Partnership Industrial Center and last year moved its CNH Reman operations into the former Aaron’s Automotive plant in west Springfield.

“Our automotive business is growing by leaps and bounds, and that will require additional square footage of about 60,000 square feet. And then finally, after we finish that, our electrical company on Kearney has to be looked at in terms of its explosive growth as well,” Stack said.

Recent growth for SRC Holdings has been between 20 percent and 22 percent a year, Stack said, and he is projecting 2012 to also fall within that range. He said the SRC companies have added about 300 new jobs during the last year.[[In-content Ad]]
