Springfield Theatre Alliance releases first quarterly results statement

Posted online
The Springfield Theatre Alliance, which formed in 2008, released its third-quarter ticket results Oct. 20, the first time it has done so.

Venues included within the alliance sold a total of 39,253 tickets during the third quarter, which encompasses July, August and September, Chairman Mark Templeton said.

The alliance comprises the Springfield Contemporary Theatre at The Vandivort Center, Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, Springfield Little Theatre at the Landers, Drury University Theatre, LuMaxx Productions, Missouri State University Theatre and Dance, Tent Theatre, Ozarks Technical College Fine Arts, The Skinny Improv and George Cron Class Act Productions.

Templeton said the alliance will continue to release quarterly results as well as year-end results.

"We were anticipating a pretty large number," he said of the third-quarter sales. "But that was a larger number than what we even thought."

Templeton said he couldn't release the breakdown of the ticket sales number because alliance members have asked for it to be kept a collective figure.

However, Templeton attributed the number to sold-out events at MSU tent theater shows, sold-out showings of Cats at the Landers Theatre, as well as other big name shows.

"The popularity of theater in Springfield is very clear," he said.

Fourth-quarter results will encompass October, November and December, Templeton said.[[In-content Ad]]
