Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and Helix Architecture & Design Inc. (Kansas City) designed the Colbern Road Branch Library, a 33,000-square-foot, $9.7 million building. Sapp Design officials said the innovative library also will house a business team and co-working space. J.E. Dunn Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project, which includes a 240-seat flexible community room, dedicated children and teen areas, and a coffee shop. Funded by the passage of Proposition L in 2016, Mid-Continent Public Library is investing $113 million to enhance its libraries. Engineers on the project are Olsson Inc., civil and structural; Ochsner Hare & Hare, the Olsson Studio (Kansas City), landscape; and True Engineering Group LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion by next year.
Missouri State University’s science building, built in 1971 and formerly called Temple Hall, is being reconstructed and updated.
