The Missouri State Auditor's Office has announced it is currently auditing the community of Branson West in Stone County after receiving a petition containing 25 signatures of registered resident voters requesting an audit of the city.
According to state statutes, 14 signatures were required for the audit, and the entity being audited must pay for the audit. The state auditor's office is also in the process of auditing the Stone County community of McCord Bend because of a petition request from residents in that community.
The announcements of both audits fall within a few weeks of the release of recommendations made by the state auditor's office upon its completion of an audit of county offices in Stone County last fall.
