The Branson R-IV School District has received a $4,800 grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education through the Incentives for School Excellence Program. The grant is funding a new school program called Practical Parenting Partnership.

Under the new grant, the district held a Community Fall Reception Sept. 23 for area business representatives to explain how they, as volunteers, could benefit the classrooms and students in the Branson Kindergarten Center.

Ground-breaking for a new building to house kindergarten through second grade was held Sept. 15 on the Branson Cedar Ridge Elementary School campus. The new primary school will be built on a site southwest of the campus.

According to school officials, excavation will start in January, bids will be awarded by April and construction will be complete by fall 2000. A ground-breaking ceremony for the new Branson High School will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 5.
