Nick Sibley and Bill Perkin were honored Jan. 24 at the Springfield Advertising Association Addy Awards banquet.
Sibley, owner of Ozark Sound Studios, was named 1997 Ad Professional of the Year. Bill Perkin, of Perkin-Watts Advertising and Marketing Services, received the Silver Medal Award.
The 19th annual banquet was held at the University Plaza Hotel.
Sibley is a seasoned musician and has recorded more than 1,500 jingles in his recording studios, including work for such clients as Mazzio's, Minute Maid, O'Reilly Automotive, Silver Dollar City and Chrysler.
Sibley has performed in and with such bands as Granny's Bathwater and Nick, Ruell and Ned the Band.
Perkin began Perkin Marketing Service in 1988. In 1996 he bought Watts Advertising. His career includes many years as a radio and television executive throughout the area, including positions in Springfield as music director of KTTS; retail development manager, national sales manager and producer at KY3; and general sales manager at KSPR.
Perkin was president of the Springfield Advertising Association in 1985.
Addy Awards and citations of excellence were handed out in about 60 categories during the banquet. Among the highlights chosen by a three-judge panel were an Addy to Schilling & Sellmeyer for its Radio 2000 billboard, which was selected as Best of Print.
The Marlin Company was given the Judges Choice Award, and an Addy, for its billboard campaign for James River Grill. And Nick & Rick & Company was awarded an Addy and selected as Best of Broadcast for its Reliable Chevrolet radio campaign.
Judges for the event were Sally Howald, an advertising professor at Webster University; Kent Johnson, art director for The Richards Group in Dallas; and Jeff Morris, associate creative director for Kupper Parker in St. Louis.

CrossFit Republic LLC changed ownership; Springfield nonprofit Care to Learn relocated; and the Fresh Gallery in downtown Springfield transitioned into a commercial venture.
