The Springfield Public Schools Board of Education on June 1 voted to enter into an exclusive beverage contract with Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co.
SPS will receive an upfront payment of $212,500 from the company, with total revenue to exceed $350,000 during the extent of the five-year contract, which starts July 1 and ends June 30, 2016, according to a district news release.
SPS currently has beverage contracts in place with both Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper and Pepsi Americas, but with the contracts scheduled to expire June 30, the district started soliciting proposals in April for an exclusive contract. Both companies submitted proposals, and Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper was chosen following a financial analysis, the release said.
The contract between SPS and Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co. stipulates that soda vending machines are equipped with timers disabling them during school hours, limiting the times students have access to soda.[[In-content Ad]]
