On the heels of being named Springfield Business Journal's 2010 Lifetime Achievement in Business Award recipient, Sam Hamra has been selected to receive the Excellence in Business Award from Ozarks Technical Community College.
The award ceremony, which will include A Conversation with Sam Hamra led by Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce President Jim Anderson, is scheduled 7:30–9 a.m. June 24 at the Tower Club in downtown Springfield.
Hamra is chairman and CEO of Hamra Enterprises, which owns and operates 75 Wendy's and Panera Bread restaurants through Wendy's of Missouri, Chicago Bread LLC and Boston Bread LLC. He received Wendy's International Inc.'s 2008 Wendy Award, recognizing him as the top franchisee in Wendy's Southern region, according to previous Springfield Business Journal coverage.
He is also an attorney, having received senior counselor status in 2006 with The Missouri Bar. That honor is given to attorneys who are at least 75 or who have been admitted to the state bar for 50 years or more.
He has served as a board member for CoxHealth, Springfield Southeast Rotary Club, Smith-Glynn-Callaway Medical Foundation and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, according to an OTC news release. He is an emeritus member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Board of Directors in Memphis, Tenn., and is a current board member for the OTC Foundation and the Harry S. Truman Library Institute in Independence.
OTC chooses honorees who:

• have achieved entrepreneurial success
• have shown innovative business growth
• demonstrate the ability to overcome challenges with integrity,
• support educational development,
• display customer-driven quality, and
• demonstrate community achievement.
It will be a busy summer for Hamra. Following the June OTC event, SBJ will honor him July 22
