Roy Blunt’s father dies at 94

Leroy Blunt, the father of U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt and grandfather of former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt, died yesterday at the Marshfield Care Center. He was 94.
The elder Blunt died of complications from a stroke experienced a year ago, according to a news release from Sen. Blunt’s office.
A career dairy farmer and politician, Leroy Blunt served four terms starting in 1979 as a Republican in the Missouri House of Representatives, according to the State Historical Society of Missouri.
Blunt also worked in the dairy equipment industry as a manager and salesman in Springfield, according to the historical report.
Blunt was preceded in death by his first wife Neva and survived by his second wife Dora.
A memorial service is scheduled March 26 at First Baptist Church in Marshfield.
