The 12th Annual Rock 'n Ribs BBQ Festival raised $140,000, which will be distributed during the next two weeks to seven children's charities in the Ozarks.

The festival - conducted by the five Springfield Rotary Clubs and the Rotaract Club of Springfield and sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society - was held April 15-16.

“The success of the Rock ‘n Ribs event weekend is reflected in the commitment of our generous sponsors, Rotarians, all the volunteers and all those who attend the festival for great food and family fun,” said Steve Scott, Rock ‘n Ribs chairman, in a news release. “We know that these proceeds help create positive, long-lasting changes in the lives of at-risk children in the Ozarks.”

Checks will be donated to:
  • Good Samaritan Boys Ranch Aug. 23 at Springfield North Rotary Club;
  • Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck Aug. 23 at Springfield Rotary;
  • YMCA Aug. 23 at Springfield Metro Rotary Club;
  • Boys & Girls Town Aug. 24 at Springfield Sunrise Rotary;
  • Ozarks Trails Boy Scouts Aug. 24 at Rotaract;
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters Aug. 24 at Springfield Southeast Rotary Club; and
  • Harmony House Sept. 1 at Springfield Southeast Rotary Club.
This year's festival brings the donation total to more than $1 million.[[In-content Ad]]
