QVC founder dies at 88

Joseph Segel, founder of television shopping network QVC, died Saturday. He was 88.

With its initials standing for Quality-Value-Convenience, the shopping network founded in 1986 has grown to a reach of 380 million homes worldwide.

He retired as QVC chairman in 1993 and was an adviser to the company until 2013. He retained the title of QVC founder and chairman emeritus.
