A new principal and five assistant principals have been named to positions at Springfield Public Schools.
Dr. Joan Cargnel will replace Dr. Carol Ashton as principal of Doling/Weaver Elementary School. Ashton is retiring from the position. Cargnel formerly worked as vice president for student development and a professor at Evangel College, and a teacher at Horace Mann Elementary.
Natalie Cauldwell has moved from assessment coordinator at the Tefft Center to assistant principal at Doling/Weaver. Cauldwell has also taught at The Storefront School in Springfield and two elementary schools in Texas.
Kathy Gross will serve Pepperdine/Shady Dell Elementary Schools as assistant principal. Gross was previously a teacher at both The Storefront School and Westport Elementary.
Lynne Miller will serve as the new assistant principal at Bissett/Williams Elementary School. Miller has worked with Springfield Public Schools as a physical education teacher since 1984 at Cowden, Holland and Sunshine elementaries as well as at Cherokee Middle School.
Jay Rush will be an assistant principal at Pipkin Middle School. Rush has been working as a special education teacher at Parkview High School for the past six years.
Greg Darnaby will serve as the new assistant principal at Central High School. Darnaby has been a math and science teacher at Central for the past 15 years, and a teacher with Springfield Public Schools since 1977.
