Terry and Debbie Speake started Springfield Electric LLC on June 3 at 3522 E. Monroe St. Terry Speake, who worked as Beaman Electric Inc.’s residential division manager for 17 years, said the three-employee company focuses on residential electrical services. The Speakes opened Springfield Electric on the same day Lee Beaman closed Beaman Electric. Terry Speake said the startup cost for the business was $10,000. Mattax-Neu-Prater Eye Center
James Mattax Jr., Leo Neu III, Kenneth Neu and Thomas G. Prater opened Mattax-Neu-Prater Eye Center on Jan. 4 at 168 S. Payne Stewart Drive, Ste. 200, in Branson, the eye doctors’ fifth center in the Ozarks. Clinic Administrator Paula Presley said the 3,417-square-foot clinic offers retina consultations in addition to routine eye exams and treatment for glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and dry eyes. Presley said Mattax-Neu-Prater leases the location for an undisclosed amount. Mattax-Neu-Prater operates additional locations in Springfield, Lebanon, Monett and Mountain Grove. American Pride Tours
Pat Eilert started American Pride Tours on June 20 at 2819 Katella Lane in Branson. The full-service tour company specializes in group tours and military reunions, said Eilert, who’s been a tour guide in Branson for 14 years. Eilert operates from her home and started American Pride Tours after she and business partner Nancy Town dissolved Dream Travel By 2. Town has started a separate tour company, called All About Branson Tours, focusing on the history of the area. According to www.americanpridetours.com, Eilert targets tours in Branson, Paducah, Ky., and Memphis and Nashville, Tenn. Five days in Branson, including ground transportation and two shows per day, cost about $700, while a 10-day tour to the two Tennessee cities, including ground transportation and two meals per day, costs about $1,500 per person, she said.
