Home Instead Senior Care of Springfield, Mo.
Chris Blaine on Nov. 1 purchased Home Instead Senior Care of Springfield, Mo., at 1675 E. Seminole St., Ste. G-200, in the Spring Valley Business Center. Dallas and Trudy Johnson brought the Omaha, Neb.-based franchise to Springfield in October 1997 to help seniors remain in their residences as they age, said Blaine, who purchased the franchise for $175,000, mostly funded by a U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loan through Liberty Bank. The company’s 35 care providers offer personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands and shopping services, Blaine said. He added that 75 percent of the company’s clients live in their homes, and 25 percent live in assisted-living facilities and care centers. Founded in 1994, Home Instead has more than 900 independently owned and operated franchises in 14 countries. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone (417) 227-9977.

MoneySaver Publishing Inc.
MoneySaver Publishing Inc., led by president and founder Chris Brewer, acquired Nixa-based FYI Publishing on Jan. 18 for an undisclosed price, said Janet Michel, publisher of MoneySaver Publishing Inc. The company publishes MoneySaver Marketplace magazine, a seven-year-old direct-mail shopper that is sent to Greene and Christian county residents. Mike and Kim Luetzinger owned six-year-old FYI Shopper, and they will be involved with the new company during the transition. The merger, which combines MoneySaver Marketplace with FYI Shopper, increases MoneySaver’s circulation to nearly 70,000 households from around 60,000, Michel said. The company, which operates an office at 1031 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 214, added two full-time and two part-time employees with the acquisition, Michel said, bringing the total staff to eight. Hours: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 883-7446.

St. John’s Nixa Fitness Center
St. John’s Nixa Fitness Center moved Jan. 25 to the third floor of St. John’s Super Clinic, 940 W. Mount Vernon St., from Nixa’s community center, where it had operated since 2002. Monthly rates for the center are $30 for individuals and $45 for families. The new location is on one level, allowing parents to watch their children while they work out, said Belinda Mercer, fitness director. Hours: 5:30 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Phone: (417) 725-0292.
