Online marketing conference draws crowd of business owners

Posted online
About 130 people attended Online Edge, a seminar focused on online marketing, presented today at the Executive Conference Center, 910 W. Battlefield Road.

Local Marketing Giant LLC hosted the event that featured Russell Brunson, president of Dotcomsecrets.com, a Web company that Brunson says now generates $10 million in sales revenues per year.

Jeremy Wells, co-owner of Classy Llama, a Springfield-based e-commerce and Web design company, said he attended the seminar to pick up marketing tips from Brunson.

“I’m hoping to gain that extra knowledge, to gain an edge on competitors with techniques,” Wells said. “I’ve heard a lot about Russell Brunson, and I thought it was pretty much essential to come and pick up some tricks of the trade.”

Wells said he brought Classy Llama’s staff of 12 to the conference.

Brunson told the crowd it was important that companies not be shy about marketing themselves.

“Sometime people try so hard not to be that guy that’s in other people’s faces, that they can let their business fail.”

Eric and Victoria Wells, owners of Ozark-based Wells Works Construction LLC, said they attended the conference to learn how to better use social networking platforms to generate business.

“We have a (Facebook page), but we don’t know how to use it,” Victoria Wells said.

“We’re hoping to increase our client base,” Eric Wells said. “We’re on Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn, but we’re not using them very effectively.”
