Joy Adams, co-owner of the Kwik Kopy Printing Center in Springfield, has been selected as chairman of the International Center for Entrepreneurial Development's 1998 International Conference and Trade Show. ICED will host the event in San Diego, Calif., in the fall. Adams was chosen to head the conference committee because of her involvement and dedication to the success of her business, as well as all the franchises in the ICED system.

The Springfield Family Y has chosen new members and officers for its board of directors. New members are Keith Chaffin, Diane Slinker and Gregory Smith. Officers include Sterling Huff Jr., president; Mark McQueary, first vice president; Andrew Lear, second vice president; Ron Anderson, treasurer; and Sandy Coffman, secretary.

Allyson Ashley, chief operations officer for Burrell Behavioral Health, has been honored by the Minnesota Department of Human Services as one of its founders. Ashley's photograph and story were part of a founders' display in the lobby of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. She served as Minnesota's commissioner of mental health from 1986 to 1988.

Pat Owens, of Owens Photography, won the Best Folio Award at the spring convention of the Professional Photographers of the Ozarks. She also won a third-place trophy at the convention for her photograph "Cowboy Out of Time."

Mark Spinabella, of KTTS and the MAX 96.5, has received the Empire Award from Great Empire Broadcasting. This award goes to the top-billing salesperson in all of Great Empire Broadcasting, which owns 14 radio stations throughout the Midwest.

Tim Roth, of Rankin and Company, was named one of 10 Outstanding Young Missourians by the Missouri Jaycees at a recent banquet. This award is presented for the individuals' outstanding contributions to their communities and exceptional achievements personally and professionally.

Naomi Yates, a financial aid counselor at Evangel College, was recently honored for her 30 years of service at the college. Yates was recognized in 1994 by the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel for 25 years of service.

Evangel College's social work program has received accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education. The program is designed to prepare students for graduate studies and provide the background needed to serve in compassion careers.

Samek, Fritz & Company, CPAs, has announced the successful completion of an independent peer review of its accounting and auditing services. The firm received an unqualified opinion, the highest ranking possible for the review.

Pamela A. Reese, RN, CNAA, has joined the board of directors of Mid-America Transplant Services. Reese has been vice president/chief nurse executive at St. John's Regional Health Center since 1997.

Linda Truitt, MAI, co-owner of Truitt Appraisal, has been installed as 1998 president of the Ozark Mountain Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The chapter encourages local real estate appraisers to earn Appraisal Institute professional membership designations and promotes competent and reliable appraisal services to the property-owning public.

Kyle Anderson, of Universal Systems House, has earned the Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet level. This level is earned by Microsoft certified systems engineers who complete the Windows NT 4.4 server, TCP/IP 4.0 and Internet information server 3.0 training. Anderson is a computer/networking service technician with USH.

United Way of the Ozarks has elected its board members and officers for 1998. Officers are Ronald Ponds, chair; Sally Hargis, vice chair; Bill Hixon, treasurer; and Bob Bezanson, secretary. Board members include Tom Finnie, Jack Hadsall, Sally Hargis, Dr. John Bentley, Sheila Collins, Diane Ostergren, Bud Greve, Bernie Griffin, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bryant and Leslie Peck.
