The Republic R-III School District broke ground Oct. 28 for a new elementary school building to house kindergarten and early childhood education classes. The building will be located just off State Highway 174 and Main Street.
The community Nov. 6 celebrated the upcoming relocation of the present football field and track from the middle school to the high school with a tailgate party before the final home football game of the season.
In August, voters authorized the sale of $4.2 million of general obligation bonds to build, furnish and repair school buildings. In addition to the new structures, remodeling projects include: air conditioning for several Elementary I classrooms, new kitchen equipment for Elementary II, relocating the central office, remodeling of middle school locker rooms, high school parking lot repairs, paving the bus drive behind elementaries I and II, and reroofing 25,298 square feet of the Elementary II building.
