The Price Cutter full-service supermarket in Nixa announced in a full-page ad in the Nixa News-Enterprise Feb. 3 that "We will beat any Smitty's and Wal-Mart advertised prices in Nixa."
The store also announced the new Community Bucks program, designed to assist nonprofit organizations.
Shoppers will receive coupons with each purchase of more than $25 that can be donated to the nonprofit organization of their choice, which can redeem the coupons at Ramey/Price Cutter General Offices in Springfield.
Nixa Price Cutter Manager Wes Brown said his store's staffing levels have not changed, but acknowledged that "Everybody is going to check out a new business," such as Wal-Mart.
Brown noted that the announcement of the Community Bucks Program has been a "tremendous success. The Nixa Schools jumped in on it and several churches and the Nixa Head Start have called. It's going to be a big hit with the community," he said.
