Nixa market information compiled

The strength and growth of the Nixa market was backed up with statistics provided by Aire-Master of America Inc. for the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce. The market analysis estimated that the members of the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce have sales of $200 million per year.

In the 65714 ZIP code, Dun & Bradstreet listed 752 businesses with a total of $275 million in annual sales. The survey gave data on 143 chamber members that generated $131.4 million in annual sales.

"This means that the members of the Nixa chamber, being only one-third of all the local businesses, account for over 70 percent of annual sales for the area," according to an Aire-Master news release.

A membership drive conducted after the survey was taken boosted its membership to 250 members.

Aire-Master hosted a networking event for chamber members recently, and used the opportunity to dispense and gather marketing information.

"Our goal was to see what types of businesses we have and what type do we need in Nixa," said Jim Roudenis, Aire-Master marketing director.

"Once (the chamber) knows which businesses the town can support, rather than waiting for business to come to them, they can go out and recruit the types of business they need and give them the numbers they didn't have."

Roudenis said the process brought chamber members together in meaningful networking and "got them excited about what we could do as a group rather than individuals."

Media Director Doug Burton used several computer programs to analyze the data, including MarketMatch and MarketPlace.

Member companies were matched to their proper SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) Code. The program was able to process 143 members of the 189 submitted.

The top business categories were:

Educational services: 25.9 percent, $34 million in sales (includes Nixa R-XI School District and Ozarks Technical Community College).
