OakStar Bank donates $100K to CU program

OakStar Bank donated $100,000 to a City Utilities of Springfield initiative for low-income residents.

The donation from the bank's BrightOak renewable energy financing division goes toward a program that insulates attics for homeowners who have difficulty paying for the upgrades, according to a news release.

OakStar's donation adds to a $200,000 commitment from CU to insulate around 250 Springfield-area homes.

“We are honored to collaborate with City Utilities on this important project and are thankful to be able to invest in our community in a way that will impact 250 households for years to come," said Jimmy Stilley, CEO of BrightOak, in the release.

Eligible customers for the insulation program will be notified by CU.

Additionally, CU has increased its insulation rebate program to 50% of the total cost, or up to $500 for insulation upgrades through February 2022, according to the release.
