The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame has made a key promotion that elevates longtime employee Kari Norris to the organization's No. 2 executive role.

Kari Norris started this week as executive vice president, said Hall of Fame spokesperson Kary Booher. Norris succeeds Marty Willadsen, who retired in 2022 after 18 years at the organization, Booher said.

Norris is the first woman to hold the EVP role since the Hall of Fame opened in 1994, according to a news release.

“Kari has proven herself to be an invaluable team member with unmatched institutional knowledge who is dedicated to putting in the time and effort to take the Hall of Fame to a whole new level,” said Byron Shive, CEO and executive director, in the release. “I know that she will excel in her new role and will continue to provide first-class service, passion and effort in all that we do here at the Hall of Fame."

Norris, who previously was vice president of marketing for the Hall of Fame and the Price Cutter Charity Championship, started with the Hall of Fame in 2007. She was appointed VP of marketing in 2019. Booher said Norris would continue to perform many of her former duties, with an emphasis on strengths such as fundraising.

“I’m humbled and honored to be promoted to executive vice president and excited to serve both the Hall of Fame and PCCC in a new way,” Norris said in the release. “I love what we do and am very excited for our future.”
