Hot on the heels of the release of Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" album, a Springfield comic book writer has debuted a new publication based on the singer.
"Taylor Swift: The Sequel" was written by Michael Frizell and published by TidalWave Entertainment, according to a news release. Frizell, who is Missouri State University's director of student learning services, has penned multiple comic books, including "Female Force: Taylor Swift."
"'Taylor Swift: The Sequel' is a fun book that focuses on some of the challenges she's faced in the industry and how she's turned them around through philanthropic efforts and tapping into her creativity," Frizell said in the release. "I love the kinetic artwork, and the cover is beautiful. I'm proud of this book."
With manga art by Lucy Fidelis, the 22-page comic book has a cover created by Marvel Comics artist Pablo Martinena. One unique cover features Swift with her cats, as she is known as an animal rights advocate, and a portion of the comic's sales will go toward the Humane Society.
Frizell's past comic work has included a "Female Force" comic about Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, and "Political Power: Jeb Bush." He is also the author of the comic work “Fame: Travis Kelce,” released in February.
