Missouri is among 20 states that have filed suit against the federal government over a nursing home staffing requirement.
The suit alleges the rule exceeds the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' authority. The suit states that the "one-size-fits-all requirement" will cause myriad nursing homes to shutter.
Several nursing home industry groups also are opposing the minimum staffing level requirement.
