Litton Advanced Circuitry Division is expanding again.
This time it is expanding its manufacturing area by 75,000 square feet. The expansion is expected to cost $65 million.
"We broke ground for the space last May and expect it to be ready to use for manufacturing next July," said Amy Horton, marketing specialist. "Every six months we do a maintenance check of our equipment. After the maintenance check in July, we should be ready for the space."
The 4811 W. Kearney branch of the company manufactures printed circuit boards for telecommunications, high-speed computing and data storage markets, defense and information systems.
"We added on to the existing facility because of the increasing customer base we're developing," Horton said.
Also, according to a company press release, the expansion will allow Advanced Circuitry to extend its technical capabilities to aggressively meet increasing demands on signal integrity and its printed circuit board size and complexity.
Inter-Pak Electronics, a subsidiary of the company, is located at 2500 Airport Commerce Ave.
There, the company manufactures back panel assemblies and complete systems integration.
Last January, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Airport Commerce Avenue location for a 20,000-square-foot expansion at that site.
So what does the company's expansion mean for the Springfield market? "We project that within the next four years, our expansion will add 400 more jobs to the Springfield area," Horton said.
In addition to the Springfield locations, there are branches of the company all over the United States and some in other countries.
The company's headquarters is in Woodland Hills, Calif.
