An Overland Park, Kansas, manufacturer is planning to install a plant in the Queen City.

The plans by SPX Cooling Tech LLC call for the creation of over 60 jobs, according to a news release.

“We are very excited that SPX Cooling Tech has made the decision to come to Springfield,” Mayor Ken McClure said in the release. “The city of Springfield has a strong history of supporting manufacturing, and we welcome the major investment and the quality jobs that SPX Cooling Tech is bringing to our city.”

City of Springfield spokesperson Cora Scott said the facility would be located in Partnership Industrial Center West. The timeline, cost and size of the project were not disclosed in the release, and officials with SPX could not be reached for comment by deadline.

SPX Cooling Tech is known for lines of cooling products, heat exchangers and aftermarket parts under three main brand names: Marley, Recold and SGS Refrigeration, according to the release.

The Springfield plant is part of the company's plans to expand the capacity of its products made in the United States.

“For over a century, Marley has been the preeminent manufacturer of cooling solutions for industries that have formed the foundation of our communities,” said Sean McClenaghan, president of global cooling for SPX Cooling Tech, in the release. “The site will support the increased investment in data centers, semiconductor fabrication facilities and battery and EV infrastructure throughout North America. It will also expand our manufacturing capacity while allowing current operations to further optimize our legacy products.”

SPX Cooling Tech is set to receive benefits from the Missouri Works program, which awards withholdings or tax credits in exchange for job creation.
