The city of Nixa has hired a new spokesperson to take on the role left vacant earlier this year.
Summer Rascoll-Jones is scheduled to start as Nixa's director of communications on Aug. 5, according to a news release. She succeeds Drew Douglas, who became the city of Joplin's director of communications and marketing in April.
"She brings a wealth of experience in public relations and community engagement, which will be instrumental in continuing to enhance our communication efforts with residents, businesses and stakeholders,” Nixa City Administrator Jimmy Liles said in the release.
Rascoll-Jones has worked the past two years in provider relations for Jordan Valley Community Health Center, and her career has included stints at CoxHealth, Drury University and WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi, according to her LinkedIn profile. A native of New Orleans, Rascoll-Jones became interested in crisis communication and city government after her family moved as Hurricane Katrina refugees.
