Missouri State University’s Jordan Valley Innovation Center is prototyping personal protective equipment in partnership with CoxHealth.
The prototype – using 3D printing and laser cutting – is a face shield for health care workers' eyes, nose and mouth. Designed to be worn with a face mask underneath, the product can be made in the thousands quickly, according to a news release.
“Challenges like COVID-19 cause organizations to look outside the box to find solutions, which is what we’re doing to help provide PPE for our local health care workers,” said Scott Rogers, system director of performance integration and innovation at CoxHealth, in the release. “This is an exciting development that we hope will make a real difference for our staff and other health systems across the country and around the world.”
The prototype designs are slated to be shared with health care organizations globally, upon request.
