Former STL County employee indicted

Posted online

A former St. Louis County employee has been indicted by the federal government in a corruption scheme.

Monique Campbell, who worked for the county Health Department, is pleading guilty to two counts related to a bribe she solicited, according to federal officials. Campbell allegedly bribed a store owner after saying she observed liquor sales to minors and single sales of cigarettes.

The store is Mally's, which is tied to federal informant Muhammed Almuttan. Serving a sentence for conspiracy to traffic contraband cigarettes, Almuttan's work with the federal government helped send three St. Louis aldermen to prison over corruption crimes.
