Posted online
More than 7,511 families have found a temporary home at Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks in Springfield since it opened March 20, 1988. In 2010, the house helped 278 families.
Ronald McDonald House, 949 E. Primrose St., provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill and injured children who must travel to Springfield for medical treatment. The nonprofit wrapped up its 33-day Share a Heart fundraising campaign Feb. 28, collecting nearly 13 percent of its $550,000 operating budget. Since its inception, the Share a Heart Campaign has raised more than $740,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
A second home is planned on the sixth floor of St. John’s Hospital. The 8,000-square-foot facility will be adjacent to a new Pediatric Intensive Care unit.
