Demolition starts at site of OTC's Hollister campus

Posted online
Demolition of the former Crockey’s restaurant on Highway 165 in Hollister is expected to take two weeks, paving the way for construction to start later this year on Ozarks Technical Community College’s Table Rock campus.

OTC purchased 8.25 acres between highways 65 and 165, including the empty restaurant, in December 2010, according to a school news release. The city of Hollister donated an additional contiguous .83 acres, giving OTC 9.08 acres for its Table Rock campus, which schools officials expect to open by fall 2013.

“We are pleased with the progress that is being made in Hollister as we work toward the opening of our third full-service campus,” said OTC President Hal Higdon, in the release. “The location is ideally suited to allow us to provide convenient access to education and job training for citizens in the Hollister and the Table Rock Lake area.”

In April 2010, voters in the Hollister School District voted to join the OTC district, enabling Hollister residents to pay the lower in-district tuition at the  college. According to www.otc.edu, in-district tuition is $88 per credit hour, compared to $121.50 per credit hour for out-of district residents.[[In-content Ad]]
