Today is the final day to register to vote on the Aug. 3 ballot.
Registration can be completed at libraries, colleges, city halls and the courthouse. Mail-in registrations, which can be downloaded from the Greene County Clerk’s Office
Web site, must be postmarked by today.
The Aug. 3 ballot will have four party primaries and a statewide issue related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. On that issue, voters will be asked if the Missouri Statutes should be amended to prohibit government from penalizing citizens who refuse to purchase private health care.
During the party primaries, Missouri voters will help narrow the field of candidates for the U.S. Senate seat, currently occupied by Sen. Kit Bond, and U.S. Representative for Missouri District 7, now held by Rep. Roy Blunt.
According to the Missouri Secretary of State
Web site, there are 17 candidates vying for the Senate Seat, consisting of nine Republicans, three Democrats, three Constitution party members, and two Libertarians.
Eleven candidates have registered for House Seat 7: eight Republicans, two Democrats, and one Libertarian.
Find out more about the candidates running for the U.S. Representative seat beginning in the July 12 issue of Springfield Business Journal, which marks the first of a four-part series, Search for Seat 7.[[In-content Ad]]
