County collector mails 2010 property tax bills

Posted online
Property owners in Greene County will soon receive their 2010 real estate and property tax bills, which are due by Dec. 31.

Property owners in Greene County should be on the lookout for their 2010 real estate and property tax bills. The bills are being mailed this week, according to a Nov. 9 news release.

County real estate and property taxes must be paid by Dec. 31, and Greene County Collector of Revenue Scott Payne says payments by regular mail or online at www.countycollector.com can help taxpayers avoid long lines at the courthouse.

“These two methods of payment are the most cost-effective and least stressful ways to make your payments,” Payne said in the release. “In addition to that, the flu season is upon us, and it only makes sense not to risk being exposed to the flu when it’s possible to pay online or put the payment in the mailbox.”

Those who don’t receive their tax bills can print them online at the collector’s Web site, the release said.

And because the tax bills typically generate hundreds of calls to Payne’s office, Payne recommends first checking for answers on the back of the statements or online.[[In-content Ad]]
