Layoffs are compounding across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 45,000 Ohio workers have applied for unemployment over the past week, and in New Jersey, 15,000 people applied on Monday. Nearly 8,000 applications arrived over the weekend in Connecticut.
Among the corporations making layoffs is Marriott, which announced it would cut tens of thousands of jobs worldwide.
