Skoglund Properties took home Small Business of the Year honors last night from the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau’s 2011 Small Business and Charity of the Year Dinner. Charity of the Year honors went to Faith Community Health, according to a news release from the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB.

Four businesses and 11 nonprofits were nominated for recognition. More than 130 people attended the reception and dinner at Chateau on the Lake.

Skoglund Properties has provided lodging and Branson getaway packages in Branson for 18 years. The Skoglund family, originally from Minnesota, owns Branson’s Best Motel, Savannah House and Brookwood Inn, and Whispering Hills Inn. The company also is renovating the former Cobblestone Inn, which operates as Camden Hotel & Conference Center, the release said.

Charity honoree, Faith Community Health, was founded in 2007 to help uninsured workers in Stone and Taney counties access affordable health care and wellness education. Services at the center, which has three employees and numerous volunteers, include medical care and optometry, pharmaceutical dispensing, counseling and fitness programs through the YMCA, the release said. With a waiting list of 350 patients for dental care, Faith Community Health officials are planning to add dental services.

The inaugural Customer Service Star Award was presented to John Spencer of Southwind Management Corp., the management company for Palace View Resorts by Spinnaker. Spencer implemented and is lead supervisor for the company’s Branson Premier Tickets division, which supports Branson shows and parks, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
